Mrs. Mary Samantha Cable Putnam, wife of L.C. Putnam, was taken ill very suddenly Thursday, December 31, with cancer of the stomach. Tuesday, January 5, she had a bad hemorrhage. After a consultation Drs. Carr and Deffenbaugh operated but her ailment had progressed too far. She died Saturday, January 9. The services were conducted at noon Monday by Rev. Mr. Evans of the Congregational church of Fairmont.
Mrs. Putnam was about fifty-four years old. Burial was at the Geneva cemetery Monday afternoon.
Mary is buried in the same plot as Charles and Nellie Pangle but there is no gravestone.
