Graveside services for Marnie Ray "M.R." Barton, 79, of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Anton Cemetery with the Rev. John Donnerberg officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hammons Funeral Home of Littlefield.

He died Monday, March 18, 2002.

He was born Aug. 10, 1922, in McCaulley and He married Readean Scott on Feb. 7, 1947, in Lubbock. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II as a sergeant in the security police. He was a Mason with his membership in a San Antonio lodge.

He was a conservation contractor, working in land improvement and conservation. He was a charter member of Texas E-CAT (Earth Moving Contractors of Texas), and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a Methodist.
