Aaron Moore McCandless was the fourth of five known children born to Margaret Moore and James M. McCandless. Both parents were born in Ireland.

Aaron married Keziah McCandless, his first cousin, and they had 12 children (all born in Butler County, PA)...four died before the age of 10.

According to information taken from the "History of Butler County Pennsylvania - 1883," Chapter 36 -- Center Township, p. 339. "Aaron Moore McCandless was a farmer in Center Township."
