Mrs. Mary E. Clayton

OVIS, Nov. 30 - Mrs. Mary E. Clayton, Bennington township resident, died Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Ovid Nursing home after an illness of six weeks. Funeral services will be held at the Houghton funeral home Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Harold DeWeese officiating. The place of burial has not been decided. Mrs. Clayton was born at Woodland April 13, 1887, the daughter of John B. and Emily Banta. She was married to George Clayton in Owosso oct. 26, 1919, who died June 13, 1948. She had been a resident of Owosso and Bennington township for the past 30 years and was a member of the Owosso Baptist church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Chester Jenison of Bennington, Mrs. Glen Houghton of Nunica; one brother, Carl Banta of Battle Creek; one sister, Mrs. Stella Crampton of Owosso; four step-children, Clyde Clayton, Mrs. Tillie Meyers of Wisconsin, Russell Clayton of California and Arlene Clayton of Owosso.
