Wayne retired from General Motors after forty years as a skilled welder.
Funeral Services will be held 2 pm, Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Nelson-House Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeremy Benton officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm, and on Wednesday from 2 to 8 pm, with the family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm.
Wayne was born on August 13, 1928 in Elsie, the son of Leonard and Luella (Janes) Schmidtfranz. He graduated from Owosso High School.
On September 27, 1947 he married Ethel M. Bucsi at the Burton Methodist Church. He was a member of the Pittsburg United Methodist Church. He was a life-long farmer, beginning with dairy farming and then raising cash crops and beef. He was an avid boater and enjoyed water skiing, fishing and traveling. He belonged to a pool league in Florida, where he and his team won several trophies and awards at tournaments and matches.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel; children, Carol (Walt) Adasiak, Karl Schmidtfranz (and Carme Willard), and Susie (Scott) Lynde; four grandchildren, Shanon (John) Yerian, Eric (Wendy) Adasiak, Carrie Skeels (and Johny Winkler), Heidi Lynde; nine great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews; many other loving family members and friends; and special companion, Peto.
He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Pittsburg United Methodist Church.
