He was born April 27, 1932 to Charles and Twilla (Rock) Benjamin. Mr. Benjamin married Ruth Breed May 20, 1956. Ruth passed away March 31, 1993. Donald was a truck driver for 33 years most recently with Fibre Drum Co. where he retired in 1987. He was an Army veteran in the Korean War and member of the Kankakee V.F.W. He enjoyed playing cards especially UNO and Canasta, traveling, reading and Fox News. Mr. Benjamin was a former volunteer at the Beaverville fire department, former school board member for the Donovan school district, and former member of the Beaverville Lions Club.
Donald is survived by his fiance Maxine Schultz of Bradley IL., one son Jeffery and Joetta Benjamin of Lincoln IL., three sisters; Arlene Bakeman of Momence IL., Charlene Benner of Fowler IN., and Joy Wisnowski of Kankakee IL., one grandaughter; Carrie Benjamin of Lincoln IL. He is also survived by Maxine's family which includes one daughter and son in law; Barbara and Dennis Bales of St. Anne IL., two sons and daughters in law; Michael and Karen Schultz of Clifton IL., and Patrick and Ann Schultz of Kankakee IL., along with many grandchilren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Benjamin was preceded in death by his wife, one brother Charles Jr. and one sister Lois Arseneau.
