Phebe Estella Story was the daughter of Sleeman Shumway Story and Frances Finner Spaulding Story. Her father enlisted in Wisconsin Co. G., 10th Reg. Inf. in 1861, was discharged in 1863 and died of injuries shortly after. Her family resided in La Salle County, Illinois by 1870. Phebe became a school teacher and married George W. Gallaher in 1888. She was the mother of one child, Estella Bernice Gallaher. E. Bernice married George Edward Ten Eyck in 1910 and moved to Kansas early in the 1920s.
