Barbara M. Hart

Barbara Dianne McKenzie Hart, 47, of McComb died Jan. 6, 2009, at Kings Daughter's Hospital in Brookhaven.

Visitation is 5 to 8 tonight at Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb and 9 a.m. Friday until services there at 11 a.m. Pastor Woody Rimes will officiate. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery.

Mrs. Hart was born May 18, 1961, in Jackson. She was the daughter of Willie Earl and Barbara McKenzie of Baton Rouge.

She joined the McComb School District in June 2008. She worked in the Business and Technology Complex as secretary, initially. As her talents were realized and she continued to assume more responsibilities, she was promoted to administrative assistant. Coworkers and family members said she served the district, the building, the students and patrons well during her tenure. The professional atmosphere of the office was often recognized and attributed to her mannerisms.

Mrs. Hart was president of the McComb Association of Education Office Professionals and was vice president and chairman of the scholarship and nominating committees. Always pursuing the highest calling of professionalism, Mrs. Hart completed the requirements of the Professional Standards Program and earned the distinction of Certified Educational Office Employee.

Mrs. Hart had one daughter, Kelly, who is a sixth-grade student at Higgins Middle School and a member of the Quest program. As in everything she did, Mrs. Hart put her whole heart into being a mother to Kelly. She was active in the school PTA and supportive of the staff and programs at her daughter's school.
Mrs. Hart was a graduate of Forest Hill High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. She came to the McComb School District with a number of years of experience in office management.

McComb School District personnel remember Mrs. Hart with fondness.

"Mrs. Hart had impeccable work ethics that generated a person who was dependable and proud to contribute to the positive impact that schools made for our children," said curriculum director Betty Wilson. "She did not hesitate to take the initiative to add innovative ideas to ensure a building environment that embraced the learning experience."

Deloras Young said, "Dianne was more than a co-worker to me. She was my sister in Christ. Dianne was a fine Christian woman who lived her life in a way that would glorify God. You could see Christ in everything she did. Not only will she be missed at McComb School District, she will be missed by me and the rest of her Sunday school class at First Baptist Church of McComb."
B&T Center principal Tommy Catchings said, "Dianne was the glue that held the Business and Technology Complex together. She was organized and dependable. She will be greatly missed by the staff and students."

Mrs. Hart was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jack B. Allgood, Clara and O.B. Magee, and Willie Ara McKenzie and his wife Willie Louise McKenzie.

Survivors include a daughter, Kelly Hart of McComb; a brother, Chip McKenzie and wife Monica of Walker, La.; a sister, Clarissa McLendon and husband Greg of Jackson; and numerous aunts, uncles and close friends.

Pallbearers are Chris Coon, Aaron Betts, Scott McKenzie and Mark McKenzie.

Obituary published in The Enterprise Journal, McComb, Mississippi.
