Mrs. Ida Mae Benoit died peacefully at her home in Port Arthur, Texas, May 21, 2005, after a brief illness. She was born and reared in Louisiana and moved to Port Arthur in 1944 with her husband and family. She was a charter member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, now First United Methodist. She was 90 years old at the time of her death.

Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 3131 South Park Drive, across from Tyrrell School in Griffing Park, Port Arthur, Tuesday, May 24th at 11:00 am under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home, 5601 39th Street, Groves, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Monday, May 23rd.
Following the interment at Memory Gardens, family and friends are invited to the house for refreshments.

Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Dostie S. (Bill) Benoit. She is survived by two children, Mrs. Marie Blazevich and Dr. Cecil R. Benoit, both presently of Port Arthur: five grandchildren, Joel David Benoit of Lawrenceburg, KY., Jonathan Samuel Benoit of Helena, AL., Mrs. Andre Zeno of Miami, FL., Carl Gregory Blazevich and Mrs. Richard Trimble of New York City. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to First United Methodist Church.
