Chester Gilbert McGuire, 68, Springfield, died at 5:08 p.m. Wednesday in his home after a long illness.

Born in Brighton, Mo., he was a mill operator for Toombs & Co. and a member of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Hazel, five sons, Michael Eugene, Parsons, Kan., Bobby Lynn, Ozark, Richard Bruce, Henderson, Nev., Jeffrey Randall, Springfield, and Kevin Lee, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two daughters, Marsha Diane McGuire and Marla Kay Sperie, both of Springfield; a brother, Paul McGuire, Springfield; a stepson, Jimmy Ragain, Roby; two stepdaughters, Faye Tunnell and Sandy Bailey, both of Springfield; and 16 grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Klingner Chapel with the Rev. Tom Scott officiating. Burial will be in Springfield National Cemetery with military rites by Post Nos. 3404 and 696.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Klingner Chapel.
