[Note: The original grave markers for Abraham Anderson indicates that his last name was spelled "Boliek" as was his wife's grave marker. For some reason the replacement marker spells his last name as "Bolick." I appreciate and thank Susan Bowman who originally created this memorial in 2009 for pointing this out and my great great grandfather's military service.

Most of the information that follows I obtained from notes left to me by my late aunt Dr. Mildred Irene Boliek who spent much time collecting information on the Bolch/Boliek/Bolick family.]

Although Abraham Anderson's father, Abraham Boliek [again see grave marker for spelling], was listed as the 8th child, my aunt notes that in fact he was the 12th child and the youngest. He was a farmer in Alexander County, NC and his church affiliation was Lutheran. On December 1856 he married Sarah Dockery. [Notes say their marriage was at "Mt. Bethel"].

Abraham Bolick served in Co. H 55 NC infantry regiment North Carolina on May 31, 1862. He enlisted as a Private on September 1, 1862 at the age of 25. He was hospitalized on May 1, 1864 at Richmond, VA and was transferred on May 15, 1864, and then returned on June 30, 1864. He was hospitalized a second time on August 21, 1864 at Richmond, VA and returned again on November 1, 1864. On March 25, 1865 he became a POW at Hatcher's Run, VA and then confined at Point Lookout, MD on April 2, 1865. He subsequently took the Oath of Allegiance June 23, 1865 a Point Lookout, MD.

According to Susan Bowman, the confusion regarding Shiloh cemetery comes from the mailing address which is listed as Hickory. The cemetery is actually in Bethlehem in Alexander County but they no longer have a PO there. The coordinates are Latitude: 35.813924244291414, Longitude: -81.3132905960083.
