Born July 7, 1941 in Quincy, Carmen was the daughter of Lyle and Darl Mayfield Witt. She married Don Taylor on July 22, 1961 in Quincy and they enjoyed 47 wonderful years together.
Carmen was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the church choir and serving as an AWANA leader for 37 years. She also gave of her time as a Literacy Volunteer. Carmen enjoyed music and flower gardening and was devoted to her family and cherished the time she spent with them.
Carmen was employed as a broker sales assistant for A.G. Edwards for many years until her retirement.
Survivors include her husband, Don; three daughters, Mardy Harvey and her husband Bruce of Quincy, Melissa Speer and her husband Jon of Alpha, IL and Melinda Oyos and her husband Mark of Hoffman Estates, IL; a son, Pastor Matthew Taylor and his wife Kate of Stuart, IA; ten grandchildren, Katie Harvey, Karli Harvey, Kristin Damitz and her husband Dustin, Kylie Speer, Kelsey Speer, Taylor Grace Oyos, Sammy Oyos, Jonathan Taylor, Hanna Taylor and Joey Katherine Taylor; one sister, Sue Dulaney and her husband Don of Maywood, MO; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 in Calvary Baptist Church, 1825 State Street, Quincy by Pastor Mickey Farlow and Pastor Matthew Taylor. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Friday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at Calvary Baptist Church.
