SERVICES HELD FOR LINOLD JAMES BEGG.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD TUESDAY AFTERNOON FROM ST. JAMES METHODIST CHURCH IN CENTRAL CITY COLO., FOR LINOLD JAMES BEGG, 72, WHO DIED SUDDENLY SATURDAY MORNING AT HIS HOME, 350 LAWRENCE ST.

HE HAD BEEN IN FAILING HEALTH FOR SOME TIME, BUT WAS ACTIVE UNTIL ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO. DEATH CAME WHILE HE WAS RESTING AFTER BREAKFAST SATURDAY MORNING.

LINOLD WAS BORN IN UNION TWP. LEMARS IOWA ON NOVEMBER 8, 1894. THE FAMILY MOVED TO MISSOURI WHEN HE WAS 2 YRS OLD THEN TO PALISADE COLORADO IN 1906. MR. BEGG FARMED IN PALISADE UNTIL HE MOVED TO BLACK HAWK COLO., IN 1935.

MR. BEGG HAD BEEN ACTIVE IN MANY CIVIC AFFAIRS, A LIFETIME MEMBER OF THE ST. JAMES METHODIST CHURCH, HE WAS GENERAL MANAGER OF THE CENTRAL DEVELOPMENT COMPANY'S PARKING LOT OPERATIONS, LIFETIME MEMBER CENTRAL CITY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT, AS WELL AS A FORMER CHIEF, AND ONE OF THE AREA'S " ELDER STATESMAN ".

A PIPEFITTER BY TRADE AND MEMBER OF THE UNION FOR 25 YEARS, HE HAD WORKED ON MANY OF THE TUNNEL AND DAM PROJECTS IN THE AREA, INCLUDING THE MOFFAT TUNNEL, AND HIGHWAY 6 CONSTRUCTION. HE WORKED IN MINES IN BLACK HAWK AND CENTRAL CITY UNTIL RETIREMENT.

HE MARRIED MRS. ELIZABETH (THOMPSON) MATSON IN 1937. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE ; TWO SONS, LINOLD N. BEGG OF CENTRAL CITY AND ARTHUR D. BEGG OF WICHITA, KANSAS. ; A DAUGHTER, MRS. CATHERINE MONAHAN OF CENTRAL CITY ; FOUR STEP SONS, JOSEPH MATSON, PORTLAND OREGON, FREDRICK MATSON AND JOHN V. MATSON, COOS BAY, OREGON AND PHILLIP MATSON, CHICAGO ILL., A SISTER KITTY WELLS, GRAND JUNCTION, AND 15 GRANDCHILDREN.

WE JOIN IN WITH THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY IN EXPRESSING OUR SYMPATHY TO THE FAMILY IN THEIR LOSS.
