Mrs. Mary Christine Brooks Burgess, age 74, died Friday, August 10 1990 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Funeral services were held Sunday, August 12 at Houston Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Amity Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Kennedy officiating.

The daughter of the late John Wesley Brooks and the late Eliza Martin, she was born in Webster County and lived most of her life in Houston. She was a housewife and was a member of Amity Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Wilson of Moss Point and Mrs. Laverne Eaton of Houston; two sons, Ted Carter of Jackson and David Carter of Hendersonville, Tennessee; three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Cole of Calhoun City, Mrs. Lou Ollie Shaffer of Gadsden, Alabama and Mrs. Yancie Cooper of Slidell, Louisiana; three brothers, Leroy "Shorty" Brooks of Houston, Kirkum Brooks of Okolona and Jeff Brooks of West Point; 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were he nephews.

Houston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
