Virginia Louise Fuller, 85, of Crookston, Minnesota, died late Sunday evening, January 4, 2009, in the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston.

Virginia was born in Owatonna, Minnesota on September 5, 1923, one of five children of the union of Edwin and Sedate (Johnson) Hanson. As a young girl she moved with her family to Mentor, Minnesota, where she grew up and graduated from Mentor High School with the Class of 1941. On October 11, 1941 Virginia was united in marriage to Raymond Paul Fuller at the Grace Lutheran Church parsonage in Erskine, Minnesota. During their first years of marriage Ray and Virginia lived in Fisher, Eldred and Crookston, all in Minnesota, while Ray worked on area farms. In 1947 the family moved to Gentilly, MN. During these years Virginia and Ray raised two sons, Edward and Keith. In later years as Ray's health began to fail she lovingly cared for him until his passing on September 22, 2001. Virginia remained in her own home until September of 2008 when she moved to the Villa. She truly enjoyed her time spent there, and her family would like to sincerely thank the very caring Villa staff for the many acts of kindness and friendship shown to Virginia. She was a devoted member of the Grace Lutheran Church for many years. Virginia was also a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, visiting with friends over a cup of coffee, and displaying her Avon collectibles. Virginia's greatest joy was found in surrounding herself with family - playing cards and games with them, and keeping up with the many accomplishments of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Virginia loved them dearly, and they will forever cherish special memories of the ways in which she touched each of their lives.

Family members include a son, Keith Fuller (Linda Hanson) of Mentor, MN; eight grandchildren, Jason (Colette) Corriveau of Oswego, IL, Brian Corriveau of New Hope, MN, and their mother, Sharon Corriveau of St. Louis Park, MN; Lennis Fuller and Lance Fuller, both of Fargo, ND; Laura (Troy) Hammargren of East Grand Forks, MN; Leann (Dan) Kawlewski and Lacia (Josh) Hanson, both of Crookston, MN; and Mackenzie Fuller of Mentor; and twelve great-grandchildren. Virginia also leaves a brother, Reuben (Elda) Hanson of Fosston, MN; three sisters, Ruby Kinser and Byrde Ireland, both of Griswold, IA, and Blanche Brown of DesMoines, IA; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives, including a special nephew, Bud Buchholz of Fosston, MN; and two special friends, Norma Swenson of Crookston and Sue Schraeder of Gentilly, Minnesota. Besides her beloved husband, Ray, Virginia was preceded in death by her son, Edward Wallace Fuller, who died on June 11, 1977; and her parents, Edwin and Sedate Hanson. May God bless her memory.

The funeral service for Virginia Fuller will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, January 9, 2009, in the Grace Lutheran Church in Crookston with The Rev. Rolf Preus, officiating. Visitation will be at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-7:00 pm, with a 7:00 pm prayer service, and at the church for one hour before the funeral. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, near Mentor, Minnesota.
