In Memory of…..LCDR John Frederick Barr.
*** Lieutenant Commander Barr was a member of Attack Squadron 164, Carrier Air Wing 16. Unites States Navy aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS ORISKANY (CVA-34). On October 18, 1967, he the pilot of a Douglas Attack Aircraft Skyhawk (A-4E) on a strike mission on Haiphong, North Vietnam when his aircraft was shot down. His remains were recovered on September 11, 1989 and identified on August 28, 1995. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.

On October 18, 1967, VA 164 pilot LCDR John F. Barr was killed when his Skyhawk was hit by enemy fire and slammed into the ground while on a strike mission at Haiphong.

Barr's remains were not recovered.
