Mary (Cherry) Wyco McCullough, 75, of Worcester, died Sunday morning, Nov. 30, 2008 at home after an illness.

She left her husband of 39 years James F. McCullough; 11 children, Patricia Whitney of Ludlow, Thomas and his wife Maureen McCullough of Worcester, James and his wife Christine McCullough of Auburn, Waldo Wyco of Leicester, Kevin and his wife Lisa McCullough of Ludlow, Mark J. McCullough of Worcester, Mark E. and his wife Jane Wyco of Worcester, Brian and Christina McCullough of Holden, Robert and and his wife Kristin Wyco of Gloucester, Va., Mary Ellen and her husband Douglas Walker of Dudley, a sister Dorothy Dandro of Leicester, 26 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her first husband Waldo Wyco, her son Stephen Wyco, her granddaughter Bridget Wyco, her son-in-law Raymond Whitney Jr. and two brothers, James E. Cherry Jr. and Robert Cherry.
Mary was born April 18, 1933 in Worcester, daughter of James E. and Leona (Fahey) Cherry and lived in Worcester most of her life. She served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

Mary was a longtime member and Eucharistic minister at Blessed Sacrament Church. She was deeply involved in genealogy, both for her family and other families in Worcester. She also studied Irish immigration patterns.
She was a member and former President of the Worcester Chapter of the Massachusetts Association of Genealogists. She was also a member of the Irish Research Association and the Historical Genealogical Society of Boston.
Mary's family thank her wonderful caregivers from VNA Hospice, especially Sandy, Rachel and Beverly.

Mary was a very loving and caring person. My daughter, Cindy was best friends with her youngest daughter, Mary Ellen. She and her husband raised a wonderful family.

The funeral was held from the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, with a Mass in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St., Worcester. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester.
