PO1 Michael Jay Allison, Sr., USN (Ret), 66, of Hanahan, SC, died Monday, July 14, 2008 in North Charleston, SC. He was born at home on December 28, 1941 in Parkersburg, IA, a son of Robert Clyde Allison and Grace Buss Allison.

When he was in high school he met his future wife at the skating rink by tripping her. They became high school sweethearts and bowled together.

He was a boiler technician in the US Navy, and also served as a correctional officer at Charleston Navy Base. He was a truck driver from 1987 1999 with Santee Carriers.

Michael was in a bowling league and his favorite hobby was fishing. He is survived by his mother, Grace Buss Allison of Parkersburg, IA; siblings: David Allison and his wife Linda of Cody, WI, Becky Youngberg and her husband Mark of Parkersburg, IA and Greg Allison and his wife Pam of Waterloo, IA; five children: Margo Townsend, Michael J. Allison, Jr. of New Hartford, IA, Debra J. Windham and her husband Gary of Hanahan, SC, Amy Allison Sherwin and her husband Dennis of Ladson, SC and Jennifer Allison-Beck of St. Cloud, FL; five grandchildren: Alicia Windham and Jennifer Windham of Hanahan, SC, Christopher Windham and Karlie Allison of Ladson, SC, Khegan Beck of St. Cloud, FL; great-grandson, Christian Windham of Hanahan, SC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Karla Holm Allison in 1998. The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston. Interment, Whispering Pines. The family will receive friends Friday in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel between 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
