Elias Cooper Estes born in GA, son of Cooper Bennett Estes and Elizabeth Burton Ayers Estes. He moved from GA to AL about 1859 with his family. Elias married Margaret Ann Davis 4 Oct 1868 in Fayette Co., AL by J M Chism, Minister. They were blessed with 11 children; John William, Esterann, Realy Thomas, George Monroe, Mary Elizabeth, Albert Athen, Elbert Ethen, James R, Laura Alice, and two infants died at birth.

Elias Cooper Estes, personal statement to the Tax Collector of Lamar CO., AL. in 1907 stated that he did enlist in 1864 at the Fayette CO. courthouse and served until paroled. He later enlisted and served with Harrington, until he was parole d in 1865. Also stated that he was born June 30, 1847, in Franklin CO., GA.
CWA Present Post Office address: Kennedy, AL b. 30 June 1847 in Gart County, GA; first entered the service as Private in 1864 at Fayette County Court House, AL in Capt John Drake's Home Guards and continued until re-enlisted as Private late r in Harrington's Cav and paroled in May 1865.
