Mrs. Emma Louise Hobart, 82, former Illinois Bell telephone operator at Plato Center, died in the Florence Rest Home at Marengo this morning after an illness of several months.

Born in Wolcott, N.Y., Jan. 18, 1868, she had been a resident of Plato Center since 1922 and was in charge of the village telephone exchange until the dial system was installed in 1939.

She married Robert Johnson Hobart on Nov. 21, 1894, and he preceded her in death on June 25, 1936.

Mrs. Hobart is survived by a son, Robert Hobart, of Elgin; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Bitzer, also of Elgin; three grandchildren; and a brother, John Smith, of Decatur.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M., Saturday at the Stout funeral home. The Rev. Albert F. Harkins, pastor of the First Universalist church, will officiate, and burial will be in Riverview cemetery at Marseilles, Ill. Friends may call at the funeral home.
