John Kanaar married Mary Elizabeth Sanderson, they moved to Montana and later divorced. John moved to Minneapolis where he owned a bar and cafe close to a baseball stadium. He was a successful businessman. John and Mary had 3 children, 2 girls and a boy. Elizabeth, Frances, and Willy Conrad. Willy died in the flu epidemic in 1918.
