Guy Hamilton Jones Sr. was also known as Guy H. Jones Sr. and Mutt Jones. He was born 29 Jun 1911 in Faulkner Co., AR. He was s/o Charles C. Jones & Cora Henry.

His father was a teacher who later operated a motel in Conway. He was very short, barely reaching five feet when he was fully grown. Because of his height he felt inferior until one day a teacher told him that he spoke excedingly well and should try debating. He soon became a champion debater, and finished second in the state debate contest in 1928, and his inferiority complex soon vanished, even though his stature earned him the lifelong nickname of "Mutt".

He was a Democrat, School Teacher, Lawyer, member of Arkansas State Senate from 1952-1960 and served again from 1964-1974. He taught as a Teacher at Joe T. Robinson High Scholl located in Little Rock for two years and briefly at the state vocational training school located in Clinton. He was co-owner of a service station while at night he attended law classes at what is now the University of Arkansas in Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law. He passed the bar in 1935, understudied with a Conway lawyer, and soon started his own practice in 1937. In 1947, he married Elizabeth Relya of Almyra, AR and they had two sons.

He was drafted into the Army in 1942 and served four years, starting out as a private and completing his service in 1946 as a captain. He fought in the European theater with the Seventy-first Infantry Division.

He was a canidate in the primary for Governor of Arkansas in 1954. He was elected to the Senate in 1946. While he served as a State Senator, he was very instrumental in securing many of the state agencies for Conway and Faulkner County. He was convicted in 1973 of federal tax charges. He was expelled from the Arkansas State Senate because of that in 1974.

He suffered heart attacks and a stroke, and died 10 Aug 1986 in Conway, Faulkner Co., AR. He was buried in Aug 1986 in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Conway, Faulkner Co., AR.
