Jean K. Anderson, 90, of Atkinson passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be 10:30 am Tuesday at Vandemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Atkinson. Rev. Mike McBride will officiate. Burial will be in the Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Family and friends of Jean may call from 4 -7 pm Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the Atkinson Congregational Church or to Hillcrest Home.

Jean was born on April 13, 1918 in Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter of Hector and Janet (MacDonald) Mac Kenzie. She came to the United Sates at the age of 2. Jean was a 1937 graduate of Lafayette High School. Jean was united in marriage to Franklin Anderson on February 10, 1940 in Davenport, IA; he preceded her in death in 2006. She was a homemaker and later was a cook at the DX and managed the Branding Iron Café at the Atkinson Stockyards until her retirement. Jean was a member of the Atkinson Congregational Church, Daughters of Ruth at the church, and World War Mothers. She enjoyed cooking, baking, playing her organ and attending anything her grandchildren and great grandchildren were involved in.

Survivors include a son Tom (Theresa) Anderson, Fort Worth, TX; two daughters Judy Hankins, Kewanee; Bonnie (David) VanDeVelde, Atkinson; Grandchildren include Peggy (Randy) Jacobs, Bloomington; Jill (John) Reilly, Batavia; Amy (Steve) Minch, St. Charles, MO; Eric (Jen) Anderson, Elmhurst; Michael (Caryn) VanDeVelde, Pell Lake, WI; Scott (Christine) Anderson, Fort Worth, TX; eight great grandchildren, Grant, Kelsey, Amanda, Tyler, Olivia, Haley Kendra, and Zachary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters Catherine Shambaugh and Rhoda Blake, a son-in-law Grant Hankins, a grandson Jeffery Hankins, and a great grand daughter Morgan Reilly.
