Luella M. Stirm, 83, of Nashua, died Monday, Jan. 12, at 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City.

She was born Aug. 12, 1925, on the family farm in Butler County, daughter of Frederick and Amelia Litterer Hauser. She married Edward C. Stirm on May 23, 1948, at St. John's United Church of Christ-Pleasant Hill, rural Nashua. He died June 25, 1997.

Mrs. Stirm graduated from Nashua High School in 1944 and earned her teaching degree at Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. She taught rural schools for 10 years. She and her husband farmed various farms in Butler and Butler counties. They owned and operated two vacation resorts in Canada for 18 years and later owned the Pinicon Restaurant, New Hampton, for four years. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.

Survived by: a son, Mark of Nashua; a daughter, Connie Thompson of Nashua; two brothers, Eldon (Evelyn) Hauser of Clarksville and Paul (Joyce) Hauser of Hampton; a sister, Helen Stille of Nashua; and a sister-in-law, Edna Hauser (Art) Kohls.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, Leonard and Theophil Hauser; a son-in-law, Eric Thompson; and a brother-in-law, Paul Stille.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's United Church of Christ/Pleasant Hill, rural Nashua, with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Nashua. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, Nashua, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
