Rev. J.C. Carter, 78, of Colmesneil, Texas died Wednesday, May 27, 1998 at his residence in Colmesneil.

Funeral services were Saturday, May 30th at 2 p.m. in the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Bethany Cemetery near Colmesneil. Officiating at the services were Bro. Johnny Durham, Bro. Howard Burroughs and Bro. B.A. Reeves.

Serving as pallbearers were his grandsons, Brad Carter, Brent Brown, Rodney Brown, Matthew Brisco, Robert Riley, Jason Carter, Patrick Carter, Kenneth Powell and Jerimy Carter. Honorary pallbearers were Bro. Robert Kucker, Bro. Sydney Woods, Bro. R.C. Tillery, Bro. Edward Mills, Bro. Glenn Meade, Bro. Billy Nesbit, Bro. Obie Day, and Bro. Joe Gallaway.

Bro. Carter was a native of Limestone County, Texas and a longtime resident of Colmesneil. He was the pastor of Colmesneil Assembly of God Church in Colmesneil.

He is survived by his wife, Mollie Carter of Colmesneil; sons and daughter-in-law, Faye and Charles Riley of Colmesneil, and Gaye and Larry Brown of Woodville; brothers, D.C. Carter of Luling, Rex Timms of Dallas, and Don Carter of Greenville; sister, Lenora Seale of Luling; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were under the direction of Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.
