Alexander Evavold, 93, of Ashby, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.

He was born Oct. 5, 1906, in Eagle Lake Township, rural Ashby, to Peter and Victoria (Lang) Evavold. He was baptized and confirmed at Grue Lutheran Church and attended School District 67 in Eagle Lake Township.

On March 12, 1929, he married Palma Langlie in Fergus Falls. He lived and farmed in Eagle Lake Township his entire life. In 1995, he retired from farming and they moved to the Pelican Lake Health Care Center in Ashby. He was a lifelong member of Grue Lutheran Church. He enjoyed playing whist and as a young man enjoyed playing baseball.

He is survived by his wife, Palma of Ashby; two sisters, Frances Holt and Lorena Tollerson both of Fergus Falls and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Stanton, Melvin, Clarence, Royal, Walter and Iver and sisters, Junuis, Evelyn and Doris.

Visitation: Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Nilson Funeral Home in Ashby and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 2 p.m. Monday at Grue Lutheran Church, rural Ashby
