Wife of Robert Sandefur.

Age 50 years

Darlington Republican, 27 February 1885, p3, c3-

Died, at the residence of Mr. Fred Loupee, in this city, on the 22d of February, 1885, Mrs. Fanny Sandifer, aged 49 years.

Deceased was born in Columbus, Ohio, in October, 1835. With her parents family she removed to Fulton county, Ill., in 1839, and to this county in 1849. She was a sister of T. J. Hamilton, of this city, and the wife of Robert Sandifer, the latter being well-known to all our old citizens and was a son of Mr. Louis Sandifer.

Deceased was married to Robert Sandifer in 1852, and with him went by team to Pike's Peak, and returned in the same way in 1854. In 1862, she , with the family, crossed the

plains to California, making their home at Red Bluffs, on the Sacramento river, where two children were buried, one other having gone to rest in another portion of the resting place of the sun. Her husband and one son survive her.

Mrs. Sandifer became ill in April last, being stricken with pulmonary consumption, and, realizing her end was near, desired to be brought to her old home, where she could die among her relatives and friends, and had been here but a trifle over five weeks when she sank to dreamless slumber.

Mrs. Sandifer was not a member of any church, but through life and in death she exhibited those graces and virtues which are the highest and best quantities of Christian

character. No woman was a better wife or a better mother, no woman excelled her in acts of charity and good will. Quiet and unassuming her genial influence was always felt and honored.

The funeral, upon the 24 inst., was very largely attended by our citizens who mourned her death and gave their sympathy in no unmistakable terms to the family and relatives.
