Mr. Gates died Saturday afternoon at Delhi Clinic after a short illness.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Annie Curtis Gates of Rayville; four sons, Troy Gates of Oak Grove, Valrus Gates of North Little Rock, Ark., Marshall Gates of Tullos, and L. Y. Flingerland of Memphis, Tenn.; six daughters, Mrs. J. K. Roberts of Oak Grove, Mrs. Hazel Frost of Anchorage, Alaska, Mrs. W. A. Greer of Rayville, Mrs. Dorothy Williamson of Keithville, Mrs. Lucille Howell of Monroe, and Mrs. Patricia Millard of Riverdale, Ga.; two brothers, Tillet Gates of Carthage, Tex., and Lee Gates of Shreveport; two sisters, Mrs. Tommie Lewis of Glenmora and Mrs. Bertie Mayfield of Mansfield; 31 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mr. Gates' grandsons.
