Ward Allen Beezley
March 17,1916 - January 11,2009
Lifetime Paonia resident, Ward Allen Beezley, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2009, at the Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 92 years of age.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 19, 2009, at the Paonia United Meth­odist Church. Interment will fol­low at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Paonia.
Ward Allen Beezley was born to John W. and Anna M. (Aronson) Beezley on March 17, 1916, in Paonia, Colorado. He spent his childhood and attended schools in Paonia.
On June 1, 1940, Ward married the love of his life, Mamie Ger­trude Hollingsworth in Paonia, Colorado. To this union six children were born. Ward and Mamie had the honor and privilege of cel­ebrating over 67 years of love and marriage together. Mamie pre­ceded Ward in death on November 21, 2007.
Ward owned Beezley Orchards in Paonia for many years. He was a member of the Paonia United Methodist Church, past member of the Paonia Lions Club, and belonged to a target shooting club. Ward was an avid reader. He enjoyed reading a wide variety of subjects including science fiction, westerns, and railroad books. He was a passionate photographer, a wood craftsman, and a mechanical problem solver. Ward was a motorcycle enthusiast and learned to ride a motorcycle later in life. He enjoyed music and was musically talented himself. He played the accordion and was particularly ac­complished on the harmonica. Ward was a loving husband and fa­ther who took great pride in his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and close friends.
Ward is survived by six children, David Beezley of Cedaredge, CO; Dan (Josefina) Beezley of Fort Collins, CO; John Beezley (Megg Heath) of Mancos, CO; Mary Ann (Gary) Pech of Eckert, CO; Larry Beezley of Paonia, CO; and Wayne Beezley (Kathy Christopherson) of Minnesota City, MN; and one sister, Ester Lois Johnson of Paonia, CO.
Ward is further survived by four grandchildren, Melissa, Daniel, Erik and Leah and one niece, Connie.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mamie Beezley; and parents, John and Anna Beezley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ward's memory to the North Fork Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 127, Hotchkiss, Colorado 81419.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
