1st Lieutenant, 186th Field Artillery Bn., V Corps Artillery. Omaha Beach, Normandy, 6 June 1944; Battle of the Bulge. Bronze Star Medal w/V Device for Valor.

Paul was born in Dallas, TX to Paul, Sr. & Bessie L. McGowan. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. He received a football scholarship to Texas A&M; however, he was unable to play due to an injury. He attended Brian Military Academy and was in the Corp of Cadets. When WWII broke out, he joined the U.S. Army and went to Ft. Sill, OK to attend OCS and field artillery school. He was sent to England with his unit to prepare for the upcoming Normandy invasion. While there he meet his future wife, a Welsh lady, in Barry, Wales. He landed on 6 June 1944 at Omaha Beach in Operation Overlord. He saw combat there and during the Battle of the Bulge and into eastern Europe. He returned to England for leave to marry. After the war he returned to Dallas where he began his family. Paul was primarily a home builder in Denton, TX and also was a Minister. He could read and/or speak German, Spanish, Hebrew and Latin. Paul attended the University of South Wales, SMU Dallas and Dallas Theological Seminary.
