Andrew (Andy) Miller Parsell, 91, of 1901 Hillside Ave., died at 1:05 p. m. Sat. at Community Hospital after a two month illness. He was born Feb. 2, 1890, in Longspur, Va., the son of Charles L. and Martha A. Davis Parsell. He had been a Springfield resident for more than 60 years. He retired from the Ohio Steel Foundry in 1955 after 35 years of service. He was a World War I veteran, having served in France and receiving the Purple Heart. A disabled veteran, he was a historian for the Cultice Ward Post No, 6, American Legion. He was a member of the Grimes-Kohl Post No. 1031, VFW, and of Forty and Eight. He was a grave registrar for the Clark County Veterans Council. The Clark County Commissioners had appointed him to see that all veterans graves in the county were properly marked. He was a member of the First Christian Church. He is survived by three sons, Clyde M. of Cleveland, Ralph L. of Sacramento, Calif., and William W. of Dallas, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Alma) Uptegraph, Mrs. Dan (Audrey) Switzer, and Mrs. Willard (Emma) Estep, all of Springfield; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He had one son, Richard S. Parsell, who was killed in Korea in the Korean conflict on Mar. 25, 1953. His first wife, Minnie P. died in 1963, and his second wife, Edith R., died in 1977. Four sisters and one brother also are deceased. His body was taken to the Austin Richards and Raff Memorial Home for visitation from 3 to 5 and 7-9 p. m. Monday. Services will be held at 1 p. m. Tuesday in the Memorial Home, with the Rev John Wilson, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family suggests that contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
