HIT-RUN DRIVER
VICTIM IS DEAD
Funeral of Clarence P. Hollenbeck
Will Be Held Wednesday

Clarence P. Hollenbeck, 34, of Cortlandville, died last evening at 9:45, as the result of injuries received when he was struck by a hit and run driver early Friday morning. The funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 at the O.E. French undertaking parlors in Truxton. Rev. Ernest Devine, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church of that town, will officiate. Burial will be made in the Truxton Cemetery. District Attorney William H. Coon announced today that an inquest will be held in the case as soon as the investigation of the case has been carried a little farther. One motorist was questioned at length this morning by the district attorney and his car is being held temporarily while authorities check marks on the automobile and upon the wreckage of the buggy in which Hollenbeck was riding. Mr. Hollenbeck was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hollenbeck, having been engaged in farming on the McGraw road. He was returning to his home on Carr hill early Friday morning, driving his horse and buggy, when an unidentified driver crashed into him. The buggy was completely wrecked, and Mr. Hollenbeck was left unconscious on the highway. When discovered he was taken, seriously injured, to the Cortland Hospital, where he died last night. The surviving relatives include the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hollenbeck of Cortlandville; two brothers, Ralph Hollenbeck of Cortland, and Harold Hollenbek of Westfield, Pa.; one sister, Mrs. C.J. Brown of Cortland R.F.D. 5; four nephews and one niece.
