Gerard M. "Jerry" Robert, 82, of 43 Red Top Drive, West Hartford, beloved husband of the late Norma S. (LaRoche) Robert, passed away on January 19, 2009 at Hartford Hospital in Hartford.

Jerry was born New Year's Day, 1927 and was the son of the late Edmond and Rose (Pomerleau) Robert.

He was raised and educated in Hartford's Frog Hollow and resided in West Hartford since 1960. Jerry was a World War II Army veteran serving in the Philippine Islands.

In 1953, he started Star TV Sales, Inc. on Park Street, Hartford. In 1960, he opened Star TV Furniture Corporation, then in 1974 he opened the Star TV Service Company. Jerry owned and operated Star TV for over 44 years. He received his commercial pilot's license in 1967 and in 1970 started his charter and leasing air service, Commercial Air Charters, Incorporation. He was an avid pilot and logged over 3,000 hours of safe flying. His joy was flying his airplane with his family.

He attended Hartford Community College, the Hartford Police Academy and was a member of the Hartford Police for many years. He served as Captain in the Civil Air Patrol as a Mission Pilot and Safety Officer. In 1990, Jerry owned and operated Guardian Security Services in West Hartford and most recently served a Private Investigator for the William L. Kearns Detective Agency.

Jerry was a member of The American Legion, Hayes-Velhage, Post 96, West Hartford, the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association), the American Federation of Police, the National Rifle Association and the Neutral Corner Boxing Association.

He is survived by his sons, Steven N. of Rocky Hill, David B. and Cindy of Farmington, and Robert E. and Lori of West Hartford. He is also survived by his brother, Larry Robert and his wife, Helen, of Glastonbury and Wellington, FL, and three sisters, Geraldine Lebowitz, Boca Raton, FL, Priscilla Connors, Jensen Beach, FL and Lillian Robert, West Palm Beach, FL; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Norman and Patricia LaRoche of West Hartford and Sarasota, FL; his long time loving companion, Jean Boynton, Delray Beach, FL;several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his oldest son, Michael G. Robert.

The Funeral procession will be on Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian, celebrated at 9 a.m. in the Church of St. Brigid, West Hartford.
Interment will be in Soldiers Field, Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
Family and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Friday from 5- 8 p.m.
