Matt passed away Weds., Feb. 6th, 2008. He was 33.
Born in Tulsa on Sept. 7th, 1974 to David and Linda (Seawright) Biles, Matt and his family lived in Ramona until he was seven and they moved to Claremore. From an early age Matt's many gifts were evident. An infectious smile, beautiful singing voice, organizational and planning skills, mischievous nature, creative flair, quick wit and big heart endeared him to everyone he met.
After Matt graduated from Claremore High School his desire to serve others led him to a variety of jobs. He worked at the school, at the Claremore Senior Center as a van driver, at a Tulsa bank, part-time at both Rice Funeral Service and Phillips Florist, and then at American Airlines for a number of years. Matt started a business he called Elegant Moments Wedding Coordination, an effort that corresponded with what he had already been doing for many young brides in the area. An active and vital part of his church family, Matt was a member of the Young Disciples Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church and had served as music director for several area churches. He recently was preparing to be ordained as a minister.
Even in his free time Matt continued to serve others. He loved to play Santa at Christmastime, share his musical abilities, decorate for the holidays or assist with community events. Tall, well-dressed and well-groomed, Matt was a familiar figure in Claremore. He walked into the lives of so many people and resolved to never walk away; once a friend, always a friend.
A devoted son, nephew and grandson, Matt is survived by his parents, David and Linda Biles of Claremore; his sister, Amy Gilliam and her husband, Tim, of Morehead, Kentucky; two beloved nephews, Clayton and Daniel Gilliam, also of Morehead; his maternal grandparents, Fred and Grace Seawright, of Tulsa; his Aunt Jo Whittmore of Tulsa; uncles Jim Biles of Sapulpa and Jack Seawright of Tulsa; cousins, Tim, Diane, Angela and Jessica; and his soulmate, Breanna.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions reflecting Matt's desire to be a blessing be made to Emmanuel Children's Home, c/o First Baptist Church, 107 E. Will Rogers Blvd., Claremore, OK 74017.
