Charles W. "Bill" Barker 79, of Rushville, passed away March 13, 2007 at the Flatrock River Lodge.

Born May 25, 1927 in Rushville, he was the son of the late William E. & Ada Ogden Barker. He married Norma Jean Wooldridge December 23, 1945 and she preceded him in death December 24, 1980. He then married Marie Ailes in 1982 and she preceded him in death in 1998. He was a graduate of Mays High School in 1945 and was Senior Class president and basketball captain. He was a US Army WWII veteran.

Bill owned and operated Barker's Service Station at 7th & Main streets in Rushville from 1969 to the early 1980's. He also was superintendent of the former Rush County Home for 15 years retiring in 1998. He was also a longtime Rush County farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son Gregory of Greensburg; four daughters Melissa (Mrs. Keane) Hendershott of Kansas, Barbara Gail (Mrs. John) Jones of Scipio, IN, Julie (Mrs. Mark) Hendershott of Carthage and Maria Suzanne (Mrs. Chris) Goodin of Indianapolis; one sister Becky Moffitt of Rushville; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Roy E Barker.

Funeral Services will be 10AM Saturday March 17, 2007 at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Charles Justice officiating. Friends may call 4 to 8PM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rushville's East Hill Cemetery.
