From an unpublished novel written by Harry's sister Mabelle:

"Their hearts had been saddened early in the month of February. Their second son, Harry, born the year before, had contracted pneumonia. Laura fluttered over him day and night, but he went to sleep the night of February 23, never to awaken. He looked like a little wax doll in his creamy white shroud as he lay on the red plush sofa. Laura wanted his picture taken, as they had neglected to have it done previously, so Charles Kingsley came to the home and took the photograph for her. As the days passed Laura would open the red plush album and would finger it lovingly as she looked at the little white angel who dwelt such a short time in their home. ...
"There was another grave in Pioneer Cemetery beside the Grandmother's. Charles enclosed it with a white marble coping. At the foot of the grave was a marble urn to hold the pansies which the children loved to pick, and at the head was a low monument with a little lamb curled upon it which seemed to soften the pure white Carrara marble. To the little brother and sisters, it seemed that Harry had a loyal playmate keeping guard over him. They loved to visit this little grave on Sundays and always went with their hands full of pansies."

Death notice, Idaho Daily Statesman, Feb. 25, 1890: "Mr. and Mrs. C. S. McConnell have the sincere sympathy of all who know them in the severe affliction which has come to them in the loss of their little son, Harrison Blaine, who died at 4 o'clock Sunday morning, February 23, 1890, after several weeks of suffering. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon from the family residence, Rev. J. H. Skidmore officiating."

Harry's father was a Republican politician, and it may not be coincidence that he was named 'Harrison' shortly after the election of Republican President Benjamin Harrison. Similarly, his middle name 'Blaine' could be for Republican candidate for President in 1884, James G. Blaine.
