Minerva A. Grigas, 97, formerly of New Hampshire, went to be with her Saviour, Jesus, on Thursday, January 22, 2009, at The Middletown Home.
She was born April 1, 1911, in Patchogue, NY, the daughter of the late Martin and Caroline (Ehl) Beck.
Minerva was a very accomplished and much in demand commercial artist and had an outstanding career as both a free lance artist and as the art director for the Nashua Corporation in Nashua, NH. She was a graduate of Cooper Union in New York City, founder of the Nashua Art Association, and a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Manchester, NH. Minerva enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, traveling and most of all, her art work.
She was the widow of John Grigas, who went to be with Jesus in 1993.
Minerva is survived by two daughters, Carol Pieper and her husband, The Rev. Dr. Douglas Pieper of Bowmansdale, PA and Lynne Hummel and her husband Len Hummel of Cebu City, Philippines; four grandchildren, Wayne Pieper, Kristian Jacobs, Aaron Thompson, and Lance Kasper; six great-grandchildren, Douglas Pieper III, Lauryn Pieper, J. J. Jacobs, Jordan Jacobs, Bethany Jacobs, and Hanna Jacobs; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday, January 26, 2009, at 2 p.m., in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut Street, Dillsburg, with her son-in-law officiating. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsburg. A viewing will be held Monday from 1-2 p.m., at the funeral home.
