MILL CREEK ¦ Robert Earl Bailey, 80, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness.
Born march 26, 1919, at Glenfork, he was the son of the late Green and Leola Acord Bailey.

Mr. Bailey was retired from Ashland Oil Company with 37 years of service. He was a Air Force veteran of World War II, member and former trustee of Mill Creek Freewill Baptist Church and was a charter member of the Brenton Volunteer Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Virgie Adams, Ruth Mitchell, and Lilly Thompson; and one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Nicole Bailey.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Evelyn Johnson Bailey; five sons, Dale Bailey and his wife, Glenna, of Brenton, Larry Bailey and his wife, Yvonne, of Brenton, Leon Bailey and his wife, Karen, of Pineville, David Bailey and his wife, Diana, of Brenton, and Tommy Bailey and his wife, Audrey, of Brenton; 11 grandchildren, Angie Cline and her husband, Darrell, Jeremy Bailey, Jennifer Bailey, Adam Bailey and Samuel Bailey, of Brenton, Christy Bailey and Cody Bailey of Pineville, Steve Bailey, Pam Bailey and her fiance, Jason Sprinkle, Amy Adams and her husband, David, and Michael Bailey and his wife, Tonya, of Statesville, N.C.; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Graham of Brenton; and a brother, Leonard Bailey of Brenton; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be noon Friday at Mill Creek Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs. Rodney Hatfield, Tennis Hatfield and Ronald Adkins officiating.

Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Calfee Funeral Service, Pineville. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard, of Pineville. Arrangements by Calfee Funeral Service, Pineville.
