Rev. Seth W. Perkins, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Starksboro VT came to them in 1862 from the Freewill Baptist Church of Corinth VT with his wife, Clarinda and another family member, named Ellen, probably a daughter, and they were only in Starksboro two years. He was born in ME and was listed at age 69 on the 1880 census of New Gloucester, Cumberland Co. ME with his wife, Eleanor, age 47 also born in ME. Evidently Clarinda died and he married Eleanor after leaving Starksboro.

The Free Baptist Cyclopaedia (1889) by G. A. Burgess and J. T. Ward, p. 521 states:
“Perkins, Rev. Seth W., died in Hollis, Me., June 13, 1881, aged 70 years, 9 months. About the year 1866 he settled in South Wheelock, Vt., and remained three years; then he was pastor of the Eaton and Newport church, Province of Quebec, three years. After this he was pastor one year in each of the following places in Maine: Canton, Wilton, Weld, New Sharon, South Montville and New Gloucester. He was buried in Dixfield, Me.”

submitted by Rev. John R. Burbank, Clerk of the First Baptist Church of Starksboro VT
