PIONEER GORED BY BULL LAST SUNDAY DIES HERE TUESDAY

Henry Clay (Vic) Callahan, 84, a Resident of This District Many Years

FARMED NEAR CITY

Henry Clay (Vic) Callahan, 84, a pioneer of Kansas and Oklahoma, died in a local hospital yesterday afternoon of injuries suffered last Sunday when he was gored by bull on his farm located on Route 8, Wichita. Born in Shelby county, Ia., November 5, 1858, he came here from Texas 50 years ago settling on a farm near Wichita.

He made the run into Oklahoma when the Cherokee was opened. He soon returned to Wichita however, and had resided near here ever since. He formerly owned the Callahan Transfer company here, retiring several years ago to resume farming.

He was a member of the Baptist church, Albert Pike lodge, and Wichita Consistory, No. 2. He is survived by his wife May, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Marie Lacy, 1028 South Emporia; a son, Victor of Route 8; two brothers, J. R. of Hot Springs, Ark., and Theodore, Little Rock, Ark. and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held in the Broadway mortuary chapel, Thursday at 10 a. m. Rev. O. W. Jadwin officiating, Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery.
