The Holton (KS) Recorder, May 18, 1911:

The little son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Simpson, of Lipscomb, Texas, was accidentally shot by his uncle near their home last Friday. The two families were out fishing and the gun went off, shooting the little boy's leg off just below the knee. He died about four hours later from the shock. The body was taken to Wichita, where funeral services were held Sunday and it was laid by the side of the late Jerry Simpson, the boy's grandfather. Little Russell was born at Lipscomb, Texas, February 16, 1908.

Mort McCauley went to Wichita Saturday to attend the funeral of Russell, the youngest child of his cousin, Lester Simpson.
