died Tuesday afternoon at home
after an illness of several
months.
Mr. Carey was born Nov. 28, 1901,
in Bolton, England. and came to
America as a young man. He
became a naturalized citizen in
1938.
Mr. Carey had worked for Harrison
Brothers Cotton Co. of America in
Valley Park for several years
before becoming associated with
the White Cross 35 years and was
a plant superintendent and general
manager.
He was also a member of Christ
Episcopal Church, and had been a
member of the Jaycees, Optimists,
Elks, and served on the Salvation
Army Board.
Mr. Carey married the former Miss
Viola Byerly on Jan. 29, 1927, at
Memphis, Tenn.
Surviving: his wife; son, A.S.
Carey Jr., Cape Girardeau; daughter,
Mrs. Jerome Ponder, Bridgeton;
sisters, Mrs. Bertha Howarth and Mrs.
Lena Nelson, both of Bolton, and six
grandchildren.
The body is at Ford and Sons Funeral
Home where friends may call.
Service will be held at 10:30
Thursday morning at Christ Esiscopal
Church. The Rev. Stephen Bergmann,
pastor, will officiate. Burial will
be in Memorial Park.
