M.H. was born Feb. 5, 1921, in Folsom, Oklahoma, to Baxter "Shorty" and Ethel (Askew) Crowell. He was a farmer and rancher. He loved to work cattle with his dogs, ride his horse "June," spend time with family and friends, and raise a garden. He was of the Baptist faith and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and dearly loved him.
M.H. was preceded in death by his parents; son Hubert Ray Crowell; brothers Cecil and Clifford and Crowell; and sister Mary Lee Maddox.
M.H. is survived by his wife and constant companion of almost 68 years, Martha Chloe (Needham) Crowell of the home; son Kenneth Crowell and wife Jo Ann of Coleman, Ok; daughter Vera (Crowell) Nelson and husband Arvil of Talihina, Ok; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of dear and beloved friends.
Interment will be in Center Hill Cemetery with grandsons David Bandy, David Crowell, Arvil Roberts, Douglas Knapp, Harley Crowell and Lane Bandy serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Arvil Nelson, Gary Pugh and Lewis Cook.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6-8 p.m.
