William (Willie) Hanshaw Myers was a soldier in WWl His name is engraved on the WW1 Memorial in Martinsburg on King Street as a tribute to his service for his country. His parents were James William Myers and Rachel Smeltzer. His grandfather was Joseph Myers and Ada Butts (both buried Tuscaroa Cemetery) Joseph's parents were James M Myers and Mary Collins. (James Myers served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War and died during a skirmish near Gerrardstown while in service. Willie married Mable Elizabeth Butts. Mables parents were Elisha Butts and Lucinda Gordon. Elishas parents were William Butts and Anna M. Lamon. (Anna is in someway related to Ward Hill Lamon who was President Abarham Lincolns good friend and constant companion and self appointed bodygaurd.)Willie and Mable are buried at the Mountainside Tabernacle Cemetery near Gerrardstown and outside Martinsburg West Virginia.West Virginia Private US ARMY World War I
