LCpl US Marines Corps
3rd BN, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II MEF, out of Camp Lejeune, NC

He was killed by a roadside bomb. Julian graduated in 2002 from Barrie High School in Silver Springs, Maryland and went on to graduate from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2005 in New York. He had briefly considered joining the military after September 11, but instead he followed his passion for theater and became an actor. The turning point in Julian's life was when his grandfather, Lt Col James Brennan, was buried at Arlington National Cemetery. As he knelt at his grandfather's casket at the cemetery, his transformation had begun to become a Marine. His grandfather's understated and unadorned spirit of determined decency, which is at the core of the Corps, was what Julian admired most – it made him want to become a better man. He spoke with compassion about the Afghan people who have nothing but never complain. Julian was proud of the job the military was doing in Afghanistan to help the people and this new attitude of life was reflected in his Facebook profile. Before, it listed him as a struggling actor and a carpenter for "The Martha Stewart Show", but now he stated he was employed by the USMC. His job description was as a machine gunner who fires a M19 fully automatic grenade launcher from the turret of a humvee. Julian was cremated and his family plans to return to Section 66, Grave 284 to place a portion of his aches with his grandfather. They plan to divide the ashes between the two places that meant so much to him - the land of his ancestors, Ireland, and the resting place of his grandfather at Arlington.
