He was also a WWII Army veteran, serving as a corporal in the 100th Infantry Division (TEC 5) in Europe. Jim was a member of the American Legion, and the Disabled Veterans. He was a truck driver for 32 years with the former Railway Express agency, retiring in 1974. He was also a real estate broker and a notary public.
He married Wanda Kowaleski and they had three sons: Thomas P, James M, and John J O'Connor. Four daughters include Diane E Lyons, Kathleen A Peterson, Maureen Mahoney, and ELizabeth A Marston. At the time of his death he had lived in Shrewsbury for about 30 years, and had also left 13 grandchildren.
