James Rariden Meek was born near Earlham College, Richmond, IN to Joseph and Gulielma (sSmith) Meek. James married Catherine Emmaline Adair, Dec 31, 1848. Children of James R Meek: Infant son, deceased Nov 12, 1849, John W, Joseph, Marquis, Alexander, James R, David C. E. and Charles Alfred. James R. taught school in winter and farmed during summer, having purchased property on Meek road from the other heirs of his father's estate. James R. was trustee, assessor and constable in Abington Twp at various times.
