US Congressman. Born in Clarksville, Michigan, he attended local schools and later graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from the Michigan College of Law in Detroit in 1926. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practicing law that same year in Detroit, and the following year in Flint. He was appointed as the Prosecuting Attorney for Genesee County, Michigan, and served in that position from 1933 to 1937. A Democrat, he then entered politics and served Michigan's 6th District in the United States House of Representatives from 1937 to 1939. He was an unsuccesful candidate for reelection in 1938. After leaving the political office he resumed his law practice in Flint. He died in Flint in 1995 at the age of 92.
