John W. Edmundson, farmer, Post Office Buena Vista, is a son of John Sr. and Nancy (Calhoun) Edmundson. Joseph Edmundson, grandfather of John W., was a native of York County, Pa., and settled in Mifflin Township, this county, in 1802 and afterward purchased property in Elizabeth Township, near McKeesport, where he resided until his death in 1822. John Sr., the father of John W., was born in York County in 1787, came to this county with his parents and finally settled in what is now Lincoln Township and followed farming. He died in 1863, his wife in 1862. They raised five children, two of whom are living: John W. and Sarah, a maiden lady who resides with him. The subject of this memoir was born on the homestead in 1825 and was educated in the public schools. In 1866 he purchased his present farm, where he has since resided. His wife, Cordelia, daughter of Joseph and Hannah (Lane) White, of this county, and they have seven living children: William A., a merchant of Buena Vista and McKeesport; Nancy A; Sarah J., now Mrs. John Calhoun, of Elizabeth Township; Mary M., Annie M., Olive, Josephine. Mr. Edmundson and family are members of the Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church.

BAD ATTACK OF THE HIC-COUGHS

John W. Edmundson attacked with them and they almost causes his death.
John W. Edmundson, one of the most prominent old residents of the city is confined to his home on Sixth avenue critically ill.
Mr. Edmundson has not been in robust health for some time, but he was able to get
around until Thursday when he was suddenly attacked with hic-coughs. It was impossible to stop them. Doctors were called in to stop the hic-coughs.
The gentleman hic-coughed constantly until last evening when they gradually stopped but left him in a state of almost total collapse. however during the night he got some sleep and gained strength. He is improved today. Mr. Edmundson was born in McKeesport 73 years ago.

He was attacked with Hic-coughs but Pneumonia Developed

John W. Edmondson died on Saturday night at 11o'clock at his home. No. 26 Seventh avenue. Mr. Edmundson's illness was noted in the News on Saturday. He had not been in robust health for some time, but was still able to be about until last Thursday when he was attacked with hic-coughs, which the doctors were unable to check until Friday night. At that time pneumonia developed and resulted in his death Saturday night.
John Edmundson was one of the best known and most highly respected residents of this vicinity. He was born in Lincoln township within 1 1/8 miles of McKeesport, on December 23 1825, and consequently would have been 72 years of age this month. He resided in Lincoln Township for about 66 years. When a young man he joined the Mt. Vernon Presbyterian church and belonged to that congregation until he moved to McKeesport six years ago when he affiliated with the First Presbyterian Church of this place.
Mr. Edmundson is survived by a wife six daughters and one son all single except and daughter, Mrs John A. Calhoun.
The funeral will take place from the family residence tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. Rev. J. J. McCarrell will officiate, assisted by Rev. Cheesman, of the East End, Pittsburgh. Friends of the family are respectfully invited to be present. The interment will be in the Edmundson cemetery, Port Vue.
