Services for Mrs. Katherine Weaver Boatner, 48, of Shreveport, were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday October 11 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. The Rev. Carl E. Rhoads, associate pastor of First United Methodist Church, where Mrs. Boatner was a member, officiated. Burial was held at Bear Creek Cemetery near Bryceland, La.
Mrs. Boatner, a school teacher and a resident of Shreveport for the past 22 years, died at 5:42 a.m. Sunday, October 9, 1988, at her residence after a lengthy illness. She was born November 16, 1939 in Great Bend, Kansas and was a former resident of Haynesville, La. Mrs. Boatner was employed by the Caddo Parish School Board, and had taught at several local schools. At the time of her death she was teaching at Woodlawn High School, where she had been for the past eleven years.
She was preceeded in death by her mother, Lola Maud Weaver.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Boatner of Shreveport; two sons, James David Boatner and Steven Paul Boatner of Shreveport; one daughter, Susan Ulrich of Minot, N.D.; her father, Ivan M. Weaver of Dubach, La.; her step-mother, Othelle Weaver of Dubach; sister, Louise W. Hickman of Yukon, Okla.; a step-sister, Janet Aycock of Ruston, La.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jerry Don Hickman, Kenneth Toms, Ronald King, Roy Fair, T. A. Loe and Glynn Aycock.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
